Preventing Swimmer's Ear
My doctor gave me this one.
Put 2-3 drops of this mixture in your child's ears after every time he or she goes swimming.
1 part white vinegar
1 part rubbing alcohol
This treatment helps to dry the ear canal and prevent painful swimmer's ear.

First Aid Kit
A first aid kit for your medicine cabinet or car should have at least the following items:
*elastic bandage (Ace bandage)
*bandages and guaze (different sizes)
*antibiotic cream or ointment (Neosporin)
*antiseptic (Betadine) or hydrogen peroxide
*anti-itch cream
*oral antihistamines
*children's accetaminophen or ibuprofen

Stingers and Splinters
Use a credit card to scrape it out or put a piece of tape over it and gently pull it out.  DO NOT use tweezers.  It may push more of the itch-making venom into you.  Ice the area, dry it, apply an anti-itch cream.  If you are having difficulty breathing, go immediately to the Emergency Room.

Scrapes and Grazes
Clean the area with soap and water using your hands or a washcloth.  Apply an antiseptic, then an antibiotic until the scab forms.  If the area injured is minor, leave it exposed.  If it is deeper, cover it with a bandage and keep the wound dry.

Cuts
Clean area with soap and water.  If you cut it on glass, pick out as many pieces as possible, or if you cannot get them all, see your doctor.  Apply a antiseptic, then an antibiotic until the scab forms.  If minor, leave it exposed, if deeper (not so deep that you need stitches) cover it with a bandage and keep the wound dry.

Brain Freeze
When you get "brain freeze" from eating or drinking something cold, sip lukewarm water to relieve it immediately.

Eyes
If you can see through your glasses when you look into a mirror, you don't block out enough UV rays to protect your eyes.

First Aid Compress
Cut a couple of new sponges in half, dampen them, and stick them into the freezer.  When you need to soothe sore muscles or a bruise, slide one into a sandwich baggie and hold it next to your skin.

Indigestion
For indigestion, try on of these:
-drink carbonated water
-chew your food at least 25 times per bite, which helps to prevent you from swallowing to much air
-eat smaller, more frequent meals
-eat a banana, they contain enzymes that calm stomachs
-exercise at least 1 hour before or after eating
-drink peppermint tea
-avoid tight fitting pants and belts, they squeeze and push up your stomach

Insect Bites
Rub the insect sting with a bar of soap to relieve the itching.

Kidneys
Lemon juice helps flush toxins from the kidneys.  Use real lemons, not mix.

Having several glasses of water daily will keep your kidneys running well and prevent stones from forming.

Too much sugar and protein can be hard on the kidneys.

A diet that is 50% veggie-based will benefit your whole body.  Dark green veggies are the best for the kidneys.

Skin
Tumeric, an ingredient found in brown mustard, is a powerful anti-inflammatory for the skin.  It is also found in Indian and Thai curry dishes.

White Vinegar
-Stop insect stings and bites from itching by dabbing them with a cotton ball saturated with undiluted white distilled vinegar.
-Soothe sunburn with a spray of white distilled vinegar, repeating as often as you like. Ice-cold white distilled vinegar will feel even better, and may prevent blistering and peeling.
-Get rid of foot odor by washing feet well with antiseptic soap daily, then soaking them in undiluted cider vinegar for 10 minutes or so. Remember that cotton socks aid odor control more effectively than wool ones.
