I think "Diet" is one of those 4 letter words that people shouldn't say in polite company.  Everything about the word seems negative.  I need to lose weight, I am not a doctor or a health care specialist, but I do know that the only real way to lose weight is to take in less calories than I'm burning during a day.

Now, having said that, I will admit that I am the biggest junk food junkie that there is.  I do believe chocolate should be on the food pyramid listed as one of the main sections.  Life without chocolate just doesn't seem possible or enjoyable.

When I think about losing weight and going on a diet, something in my brain starts telling my body, "EAT!"  It's really the weirdest thing.  The more I want to diet, the more I seem to think about food and eating.  So from now on, for me, I'm just going to start out exercising first and leaving my eating habits alone.
I enjoy walking, so that along with a few hand weight exercises for my flabby arms is where I'm going to begin.   I figure instead of changing all my eating habits at the same time (dieting) I'm going to change one thing at a time till I don't feel it anymore.  For example, I already switched from soda to diet green tea.  I've found I actually like it.  So now I drink a glass of milk in the morning, than water and green tea throughout the day.  That was a huge calorie savings for me.  Next, I'm going to start eating off a salad plate instead of a dinner plate so that I'm eating less, but to my eyes, it still seems like I'm eating a full plate.  I've heard that some people, when eating out, ask the server to put 1/2 of thier meal in a to go container for later up front, then serve them only the other 1/2.  I think that is also a great idea.
Well, anyway, the whole idea here is to change one thing at a time, till it becomes a habit and no big deal instead of radically changing everything at once.  Wish me luck!  I'm sure I'll need it.

Now, eating less and exercising more is the key to being healthier.  How we go about that is different for all of us because no two of us have the same lifestyle.  Below is a summary of the most common diet plans out there.    If any of you have had success dropping the weight off and want to post a short story about it to motivate others, please do.  We look forward to hearing from you.  Just fill out the form below.
