Sizes that are listed as small, medium and large can actually encompass several dress sizes and the manufacturers have no set standard for these. You really need to try on them on to be sure of good fit.
Men's Sizes
Men's clothing sizes are probably the easiest to figure out. They run pretty true to the actual dimensions in inches.
Men's shirt sizes measure the circumference of their necks. If there is a second number listed, this is the sleeze length (usually marked between 32" to 36").
Men's pant sizes are listed using the waist measurement and the inseam measurement. You can get the inseam measurement by measuring from the crotch to the hem.
Men's coats are the measurement from around the chest, under the arms.
Women's Sizes
Woman's sizes depend on both the height and figure type of the woman.
A Junior size is for a height between 5'2" and 5'5" with a slender figure.
A Misses size is for a height between 5'5" and 5'7" with a proportional figure.
Woman's size is for a height beween between 5'5" and 5'8" with a fuller, rounded figure.
Petite is somewhat shorter than a misses size with heights running between 4'8" and 5'4".
The more expensive a dress, the more likely a clothing manufacturer is to lable the dress a size or two smaller than it really is.
Children's Sizes
Children's sizes are normally sized to age. For example: newborn, 2T, or 18 months. Generally these clothes are smaller than the child of that age.
Bra Sizes
Bra sizes are a cup size (a letter) and a band size (a number).
To find the right bra size:
Band number: measure around the ribcage right below the bust. Add 5 to this number, rounding up to the nearest even number.
Cup letter: measure around along the fullest part of the breast. Subtract the band size. Your cup size is as follows
A (1"), B (2"), C (3"), D (4"), DD (5"), and DDD (6").

Manufacturers are not consistant in their sizing, but generally fall close to each other.
